Kindness Trait.
CCA's January character trait is Kindness. "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you," Ephesians 4:32 When asked: What does kindness mean to you? Marley, in 11th grade, said it was "Going out of your way to be nice to someone."
Atticus, in 1st grade, said it was "Being good." -- Devoney Conner.
On this day in history: January 6th.
January 6th 1883: Samuel Morse presented his invention, the Telegraph, to the public. A revolutionary invention that allowed for long distance communication almost instantly. The code used to send these messages is still used today, Morse code has proved very useful even if the telegraph itself has fallen out of use.
January 6th 1974: In an effort to conserve energy during an oil crisis, Daylight Savings time began several months early in the United States and was slated to remain in place for more than a year; the move, however, proved hugely unpopular, and its duration was later amended.
-- Devoney Conner.
Chapel
Chapel on January 6th was opened by the fifth grade class. Pastor Justin Wright from Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor was our speaker. He read from Revelation 2, where an angel of God was speaking about the church of Ephesus. I know your deeds, your hard work, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
The church of Ephesus had lost the excitement that comes with knowing Jesus. The church, in the beginning, had begun to grow. After a while, they started to drift away. They were doing all the right things but lost the joy. But, when you become saved you’re supposed to have a brand new life. With the comfort of the Holy Spirit, you can have hope even in the worst of circumstances. It can be easy to forget but don’t forget your first love, Jesus. –Kennedy Vaughn
Survey Says: Is making a New Year's Resolution Important
38.5% of US adults set New Year’s resolutions. However, they are not as popular among our CCA students. Only four high school students admitted to making a New Year’s resolution, while the majority of our students do not have a New Years' resolution, or think it's important. -Maddie
