Triton News: Special Edition

NEW in 2019-2020

Dear CMS Families,

After extensive work researching top-performing districts, reviewing studies regarding sleep, and collaborating with our Triton Community, I am excited to share that we will open school in Fall 2019 with a new bell schedule!

Driving our desire to change our existing bell schedule is our commitment to both academic achievement and character development through the 8 Keys of Excellence. In alignment with the CUSD Long Range Plan, our new schedule includes Triton Team Time (T3) four days a week. Based upon a homeroom model, T3 will be made up of no more than 25 students and provide an environment where they can build community, establish authentic connections with staff and students, work on their MLP and academics, and receive valuable information on how to be responsible and contributing members of CMS. Recognizing that research supports the benefits of young adolescents receiving more sleep, our start time will be 8:20 am, 20 minutes later than our current schedule. Campus will open at 8:05 am.

We're know that these changes will continue to strengthen the culture and community of Coronado Middle School without compromising the rigorous academic experience we currently offer.

Thank you for your ongoing support of CMS; together, we will continue to do great things for the students in our care.
