This Week at MHS

Here's what is happening the week of March 29th - April 2nd!

Dear MHS Parents and Students,

Reminder to all families that this week and next are four day weeks. Reminder that all schools will be closed on April 2nd and April 5th. We hope that everyone enjoys the four day weekend.

Rising Seniors - SAVE THE DATE - Senior Pictures will be held in the MHS Library May 26th and 27th. More information will be coming to you from McEachern Photography, the new photo company for MHS.

Tuesday will be ACT Makeup day for any junior who was not able to participate on the last in school day. Please see the additional information below.

Please don't forget to purchase your raffle ticket to support the MCS Foundation Children's Fun. More information below!

We remind everyone that all students are expected to wear a face covering when social distancing cannot occur. We appreciate your support in caring for the health and well being of our school community.

Our make-up session for the school administered ACT is Tuesday, March 30th at 8:30 a.m. in the Axillary Gym. Upon arrival at school, students should check in with their first block teacher, and then report immediately to the axillary gym.

Digital students may report directly to the back of the school at 8:15; a staff member will be available to open the door for you. The axillary gym is the same location we use for digital student semester exams. It is located at the back entrance, leading to the band room, and across from the practice field.

We anticipate students to finish between 12:00 and 12:15. Digital students may leave campus and return home when dismissed by the ACT room supervisor. Traditional students will return to their 3rd block class in progress.

All students will be seated at an individual table. You should have your mask, your personal laptop, and your calculator.

MHS Prom 2021, “Some Enchanted Evening,” will take place at Hunter Valley Farm in Knoxville on Friday, April 23 from 7:00pm-11:00pm. Tickets will go on sale to seniors at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, April 7th through the website “” Juniors will be able to begin purchasing tickets on Sunday, April 11th, and all ticket sales will conclude on Saturday, April 17th. Due to a smaller venue and COVID restrictions, only 450 tickets will be sold. More information about prom and ticket sales will be emailed to students and parents the week of March 29th.

May 14, 2021 is the date for graduation. At this time, all seniors will receive six tickets for the graduation ceremony. Every senior is guaranteed six tickets. We are excited to begin PRESS ON small groups with our students in the month of April! It's a crazy world out there with Covid complications, college and career decisions, school and athletic pressures, relationships, jobs, homework and more. The MHS Counseling Team wants to help students "PRESS ON" through what can be a stressful and overwhelming time in life. We will be offering the opportunity for students to sign up for 4-week, counselor led small groups addressing common needs like stress management, future planning, anxiety, and other regularly requested supports. PRESS ON groups will meet in the month of April with the opportunity to participate before school from 7:45-8:15 or after school from 3:30-4:00 for a total of four weekly sessions. We encourage you to discuss this opportunity with your child if you feel this group may be a good fit for his/her needs. Students can access more information and register for the group via the MHS School Counseling Canvas page.

The Other News from Guidance:

MHS school counselors have created a virtual appointment request for our students. If your child would like to meet with his/her school counselor, please direct them to this link or encourage them to drop by guidance in person. The best part of our day is meeting with students and we can't wait to become better acquainted with your son or daughter.

MHS Guidance will be hosting a field trip to both the Harding Valley and Blount County campuses of Pellissippi State Community College on Wednesday, April 7th. Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending Pellissippi after high school can sign up for this opportunity. There is NO COST to attend, and lunch will be provided. Students will be responsible for any makeup work. If your child is interested in attending, please encourage them to sign up in the guidance office and to submit the required parent permission form. We are limited to 40 students, so this trip is first come, first served.

The THEC/TSAC outreach announces the launch of two webinars beginning Monday, April 5 for student and parents.

After the FAFSA: Finalizing your Financial Aid is a webinar for high school senior families presented every Monday. This webinar focuses on the review of financial aid offers; what to do if selected for FAFSA verification; and HOPE Scholarship and other state aid eligibility.

Financial Aid 101 is a webinar for high school juniors/underclassmen families presented every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This webinar will walk families through the college/scholarship/financial aid process, so they’ll be ready for the senior year of high school.
