Principal's Weekly Update
November 6, 2020
Dear Wamsutta Families,
I have two new items of importance this week.
1. I have fielded more than a few questions about Governor Baker's latest executive order about masks in public and its effect on our ability to provide mask breaks. The short answer is it has no effect, as the guidance we have already received for schools takes precedence. We will continue as we have in terms of our safety protocols here.
2. We will begin virtual after school help shortly. We will have one person per grade level, so we hope to provide even more time for students to ask questions and get guidance than we currently do. I hope to have a final schedule next week.
The rest of the update is brief, with reminders about our Food Drive, Virtual Book Fair, PTO Fundraising, Flu Vaccine Requirements, Current After School Activities, and Parent Conference dates.
Thank you for your time,
Joseph Connor, WMS
Principal
Second Notice: Holiday Food Drive
Second Notice: Wamsutta Virtual Book Fair Up and Running
Ms. Rohen is hosting a virtual book fair in lieu of our normal in-person variety. WMS will receive 25% of all sales to be used for the purchase of books for the library. The fair will run from November 4th through the 17th.
Here is the link. We hope this will be as successful as our fairs have been in the past.
PTO Fundraising Continues!
We continue on with our Meadowfarms fundraiser through November. Click here to register to support our efforts. The school code is MF1030645.
New This Year: Required Influenza Vaccine
According to the State of Massachusetts Immunization Guidelines, ALL Students, hybrid and virtual (AVA) are required to have the influenza vaccine or mist by December 31, 2020. This vaccine requirement is an important step in reducing flu-related illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please make an appointment with your child's doctor or if your child meets the qualifications you may take them to a local CVS, Walgreens or Urgent Care. Make sure to call before you go! Please send in the written documentation to the school nurse. Please call the school nurse with any questions. Thank you.
