Lock Down Drill on September 13, 2019
Lock Down drills can be very stressful for our students, especially our younger kiddos. As you prepare your students for the drill, remember to focus your conversation on the procedural aspects of the drill. Let students know that we will practice hiding and being quiet just in case there is something happening in our school or around our neighborhood. For our younger students, consider calling it a "Quiet Time Drill".
Step 1: Lock your classroom door and lower your shades.
Step 2: Direct your students to move to the closet of your classroom. (If your closet door has a window, cover it with chart paper.) Remind students to remain quiet throughout the drill.
Step 3: Stay inside the classroom and do not open the door for anyone. Make a list of any students that might be missing from your classroom. Have your cell phone with you.
Step 4: Wait for the All-Clear announcement before exiting the coat room.
Fire Drills
- Students in the Main Building should come down the stairs four across (two classrooms at a time)
- If your students are in Enrichment with an Arts Partner, please try your best to meet your class and assist with the drill.
- DO NOT send students to the coatroom for their coats unless we make an announcement.
- Remind students to remain silent so that they can hear any instructions from the CFD or staff members.
- If you have students with sensory issues, please let Gina know and we will try to contact you in advance of the drill.
- Always remember to let the office know of any students that have crutches or require special assistance. We keep the names in the office and provide emergency support in the event of any drills.

Parra's Pearls of Wisdom (Important information from your Assistant Principal--Gabe Parra)
Take a few minutes to double-check Aspen. Make sure that your grade book matches your roster. If it doesn't, please let Mr. Parra know so that he can correct it for you. Have you switched any students into different classrooms? Report this as well. Changing a classroom on Aspen isn't enough, schedules must be changed accordingly. Report any classroom changes to Mr. Parra as soon as you make them.
Some of our web-based programs (Study Island, IXL, etc.) are not up and running due to Aspen. Now that we have fixed some of the "glitches" we will be able to assign students to the Programs' rosters. (Again, thank you for your patience with this.)

Parent Volunteers:
Teachers, please remember to have your parents sign up to be a Level II volunteer for field trips or to help in your classrooms. If your parent enrolled to be a volunteer last year and was confirmed, I will only need the names of those parents. If you have parents that are new to the school, or would like to participate this year, please have them enroll through our school website at linneschool.org. Once they complete the online registration the next step is to visit the office and I will take a copy of their ID. The entire process can take up to 7 days. Per CPS Policy you will not be allowed to submit field trip requests or send any parents on a field trip if they have not been approved.
Field Trips:
When submitting your request, please add the first and last name of every parent volunteer that will attend your field trip.
Timekeeper:
It is your responsibility to check your hours and correct any missing swipes before payroll submission. Please make it a habit to check at the end of each week.
Just Ask Jes... (Information from your Case Manager--Jessica Nixon)
Teachers please remember as you make emergency sub plans to note any students with medical alerts/504's that should be made aware to a new person with the room. Please if you are unsure of where to find, what to do etc.....Just ask Jes
Also last call for any records of students that are not returning to Linne. Please just drop files off to Jes.
