BACK TO SCHOOL ANNUAL UPDATES

Hastings Public Schools is pleased to provide families with a new and easy way to sign annual forms and review and update household contact information for the 2021-22 school year through their Campus Parent Portal Account. The process will take approximately 5-20 minutes depending on the number of children. All families must complete this update by September 17, 2021.

Families will be asked to review and update parent/guardian contact information and non-household emergency contacts. Families will also be asked to review and agree to their school's student handbook, the Student Device User Agreement & Responsible Use of Technology Agreement, and a COVID Daily Symptoms Check Agreement.

One parent or guardian from the primary household will be required to provide information for your children. Parents/Guardians from a secondary household will be able to update their own contact information.

After logging into your Parent Portal Account, click More and Back-To-School Annual Updates to begin.

**If you do not have an activation key for the parent portal, please call 651-480-7390 or email edannenberg@isd200.org**

MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE

Please continue to monitor your child every morning for symptoms of COVID-19 that could indicate that they are not well. If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms or they have been exposed to a person with COVID-19, please keep them home and call the attendance line. Symptoms of COVID-19*

● Fever or chills (T = 100.4 or higher)

● Cough

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● Fatigue

● Muscle or body aches

● Headache

● New loss of taste or smell

● Sore throat

● Congestion or runny nose

● Nausea or vomiting

● Diarrhea

*This list does not include all possible symptoms (see Symptoms of Coronavirus for more information).

We learn more about COVID-19 every day, and as more information becomes available, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) will continue to update and share information with us. As our knowledge and understanding of COVID-19 evolves, this guidance may change.

During the school day if your child develops illness symptoms we, the school, will notify you and help you and your family take needed actions. Students who develop illness symptoms during the school day will be sent home.

EARLY PICK UP FOR STUDENTS

In order to minimize interruptions to the classroom, students should not be picked up early unless it is an emergency. On those occasions when it is necessary to pick your child up during the school day, please go to the school office to sign your child out. The office staff will call the classroom and have the student sent to the office. Teachers will not release students unless the office gives prior approval. This practice has been established to help protect your child.

BRING YOUR ID

We have updated our student sign in/out system and will need to re-scan all driver's licenses when students are picked up early.

Please bring your driver's license with you when you are checking out your student.

NEW MCAULIFFE STAFF

SCHOOL NURSE

My name is Emily Horn. I'm so excited to be the new school nurse at McAuliffe Elementary! I recently graduated from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin and am glad to be starting my nursing career caring for the students here. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors hiking, walking, and kayaking. I also love spending time with family, friends, and my dog!

THIRD GRADE

My name is Hannah Munson. I am originally from Hastings and attended school in this district. I then attended college at the University of Minnesota and received my Masters in Education. I have been a teacher for 5 years and previously taught in Red Wing. I love watching sports and especially love cheering on the Gophers. I also enjoy going golfing and kayaking and spending time with my dog, Parker. My husband Justin and I got married in Duluth back in November.

FOURTH GRADE

My name is Julie Klein and I am so excited to begin this year in 4th grade at McAuliffe! I recently moved to Hastings and am looking forward to all the beautiful outdoors to explore in my free time. When I'm not teaching, you might find me fishing, reading, kayaking, or trying out a new restaurant. I'm thrilled to be a part of the McAuliffe staff and look forward to an awesome year.

SPECIAL ED RESOURCE TEACHER

My name is Dana Schmitt and I am excited to work as a resource teacher at McAuliffe Elementary. My teaching career began in the area of early childhood and I have been teaching special education for the last 6 years. I enjoy being active outdoors, spending time with my family, and taking my dog Lucy to the park. My favorite part about teaching is seeing the excitement students have when they make a connection between what they are learning and their real-world experiences.

SPEECH - LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Hi! My name is Amanda Enstrom, and I am a speech therapist at Pinecrest and McAuliffe. I live in Inver Grove Heights with my husband (Chris), 2 boys (Joshua, 14 and Lucas, 11), and arguably the world's greatest dog (Coda, 5). I love to travel with my family, sing and play flute for my church, bake (and eat) anything with butter and sugar, and catch up over coffee with friends. One of my favorite places on earth is the Black Hills of South Dakota, where my parents have a summer cabin. I really look forward to getting to know your kids and the staff this year!
