Dealey Dragon Update

September 11, 2021

Message from the Principal

Dear Excellent Dealey Families,

This is Education, Go Get It Week. Please see this information from Ms. Winners, and please participate to raise awareness and have some fun!

When I say COLLEGE you say BOUND!" "COLLEGE!" "BOUND!" "COLLEGE!" "BOUND!"

September 13th-17th is Education Go Get It Week in Texas! Students throughout the district and state learn about post-secondary educational opportunities, including college, military, and vocational training. The purpose of this week is to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education through the integration of learning and fun!

Throwback Monday! - Staff wear your high school shirt :-) or colors with jeans and share your high school experience with your students. Students wear your parent’s high school colors with jeans and ask them about their educational experience.

Tuesday: "Stepping into a Bright Future!" - Staff and students can wear bright colors, and accessories. Draw a picture using bright colors of yourself in your future career!

Wednesday: "Walking into Your Future!" - Staff and students wear their walking shoes and gear. Walk and talk to someone about your future career.

Thursday: "Dressing for Success!" - Students may dress in future career attire (school appropriate). Students can research future careers and share their report with their classmates.

Friday: "College...What A Genius Idea!" - Students and staff wear your Dealey shirt or school colors with jeans.

Have a great week!

Dragons breathe fire!

Much love,

Ms. Wing

Update from Nurse Dunlap

Sep 10, 2021

Immunization Delinquency letters for this month have gone out, so please check your student’s backpack. These will go out monthly. The district requires a 99% compliance by October 1st. We are currently at 85%. If you receive a letter it does not necessarily mean that your child needs the delinquent immunizations. It usually means that I don’t have the record (even after checking the Texas immunization database and stacks of paper records). You can either email them to me at edunlap@dallasisd.org or leave them in my box in the front office. If you wish to file an exemption affidavit, please follow this link.

COVID-19 updates:

So far we have only had one positive case on campus. The COVID dashboard on the DISD website reflects on-campus cases only. If there is a confirmed positive case, you will be notified via the call out system used by Mrs. Wing. After contact tracing, if your child is identified as a close contact, you will receive a phone call from either myself, Mrs. Wing, or Mrs. Knoll. In compliance with HIPAA and FERPA, the identity of a positive student or staff member will not be disclosed.

Please continue to screen your child every morning and keep them home if they are sick. There is a yucky virus going around that looks a lot like COVID, but just because it is not COVID, it does not mean that they should come to school sick. That being said, ragweed is high right now, so if your child has allergies, please make sure allergy meds are on board before school. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE SICK. See below announcement from August if you need a refresher on at home screening.

You can find the Binax rapid test permission slip here

Please remember to be kind during these difficult times, we are doing our best to keep everyone safe.
