Hallinan Elementary
Hawk Squawk 4/1/21
Principal's Message
Tomorrow, Friday 4/2, is an asynchronous day for all students. Teachers will post online lessons for AM and PM cohorts by 8 am and will use the day to plan for conferences. At your conference, on either 4/8 or 4/9, expect your teacher to provide updates on your student's progress and share Winter i-Ready assessment results.
Our office has received a lot of questions about what next school year may look like. As Dr de la Cruz has stated at recent school board meetings, she and the School Board have every intention to have all students back at school full time in the fall. And, that makes us all so happy at Hallinan!
I am delighted to share some of the great work being done by Hallinan students and I am so grateful for our wonderful teachers who inspire them.
Have a fantastic day!

- Sexual abuse instruction that is integrated and part of required district comprehensive sexuality education plan and is aligned with state standards
- Instruction that is age appropriate, medically accurate, and is not shame or fear based
- Instruction that is culturally inclusive and is responsive to diverse students including race, ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation
- A parental involvement component to inform parents about child sexual abuse topics

Bias and Racial Incident Reporting Form and Information
On November 16, 2020, the LOSD School Board approved the ALL Students Belong Policy which prohibits the display of hate symbols and the use of hate speech in our school community. This is another step forward in our efforts of becoming an anti-bias and anti-racist organization and living up to the District’s core values of equity and inclusion. The All Students Belong Policy makes it clear that hate will not be tolerated nor accepted in our schools. We encourage students to stand against hate by interrupting and reporting any bias and/or racist incident that they witness or personally experience.
We want LOSD schools to be a safe, welcoming, and loving space where all students have the opportunity to be themselves and thrive socially and academically. If you have witnessed or experienced any harm directed to any student, teacher, or staff member based on perceived or actual identity, you can report to your administrator, a trusted staff member, by using the new elementary Incident Report or anonymously to SafeOregon.
