JSE Scholarship
The Juvenile Services Education (JSE) Scholarship is designed to benefit our highly-motivated, non-traditional students that want to continue their education. The goal of the scholarship is to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with attending college so that students can have greater access and success in continuing their education.
The JSE Scholarship will provide two individual grants, paid directly to the educational institution, to two students selected by the Selection Committee. The grant can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books and lab fees. We encourage you to identify potential applicants. The JSE is also seeking volunteers to serve on the Selection Committee which will meet this summer to review applications. Please call Kimberly Pogue at (301) 315-1622 or Angelique Aman at (301) 895-5405 with any questions or concerns.
Pi Day
March 14th was Pi Day and many of our schools celebrated! Annual Pie Day Celebration was on Monday, March 14, 2016. The 3rd month and the 14th day of the year is a consistent day to celebrate the mathematical constant π. Also known as pi, the first three and most recognized digits are 3.14. National Pi Day is celebrated by pi enthusiasts and pie lovers a like! Students celebratedby discussing the significance of the number 3.14 and completing appropriate grade level activities and sharing a small slice of pie. Here is a site with some more Pi Day ideas: http://www.piday.org/2008/2008-pi-day-activities-for-teachers/
