SEMI-ANNUAL OVERVIEW
The first six months of 2021 have been challenging for most of us. Continuing under UTD's virtual campus guidelines has limited most of our activities. Despite these challenges, the Center for Asian Studies has kept the commitment to fulfill the mission of "providing opportunities to encounter and gain a deep, nuanced understanding of other cultures." In addition to offering credit and non-credit courses about Asia, we have organized two featured lectures, three Asian Culture Forums, sponsored an Asian Musical Instrument Exhibition, worked in collaboration with our partners for various events such as "Dr. Dennis Kratz in Conversation with Charles Yu" organized by the Dallas Museum of Art, UTD International Week, and Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. Looking back, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all of you for your support! With your support, the young Center will not only survive, but also thrive!

Chiang Mai Old City
Chiang Mai, sometimes written as Chiengmai or Chiangmai, is the largest city in northern Thailand. The Old City of Chiang Mai was built in 1296 and is square-shaped. Part of the original walls and a moat are preserved. The Old City of Chiang Mai is an important part of Thai cultural heritage and also a fascinating place to visit. There are many historical ruins in the city. Traditional Thai Buddhist temples and pagodas are its features. The Old City is also full of life with different hotels, restaurants, museums, galleries and etc. It's one of the best places to get a glimpse into the culture and daily lives of people in Thailand.
