Mike Yoshioka
Place of Birth: East Los Angeles
Years at Lincoln: 4
Favorite Educator: Besides all the amazing teachers at Lincoln, my favorite teacher was my dad. He wasn't a teacher by trade but he taught me so much. He shared his love of sports with me especially for the Dodgers and Lakers! He taught me how to support, encourage and be kind to everyone, especially those who are less fortunate. He dedicated his life to doing just that. I try to be the kind of person he would be proud of.
Fun Fact: My wife is huge SF Giants fan! BOO!
Liz Hartson, Teacher
Years at Lincoln: 19
Favorite Educator: My brother! I am from a big family (six siblings) and almost everyone in my family is or was a teacher. When I was in 8th grade, my oldest brother (I'm the youngest) was the computer teacher in my middle school and I was in his class! He is my favorite teacher because he has a great sense of humor and made class fun! I strive to do the same for my students.
Fun Fact: I'm a huge fan of the shows Columbo and The Golden Girls! I'm also the #1 Beatles fan at Lincoln. Sorry Qualls and Montanez! ;)

Weekend Bag Program
The Weekend Bag Program (WeB) will provide SMMUSD students experiencing weekend food insecurity with nutritious, easy-to- prepare bags of food containing 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks for the weekends. The Fall 2023 startup date is September 29th. The Weekend Bag Program will serve students whose families have special situations resulting in food insecurity in the home. Student names are not identified to Weekend Bag Program volunteers to ensure participant privacy. Bags are packed by volunteers with enough shelf-stable food (including UHT milk) for breakfast, lunch and snacks for two days, and then brought to the schools. Participating students pick up the food bags, usually from the school office, and stick them in their backpacks after school on Fridays. The menus have been evaluated by a dietitian to meet federal school nutrition standards and provide a balance of healthy, nutritious non-perishable foods. Families wishing to enroll their students should contact our school’s Bilingual Community Liaison, Nallely Gutierrez, n.gutierrez@smmusd.org, 310 393-9227 x73105 and fill out a Program opt-in form.
