Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
PARP was a huge success! I hope you and your reading partner had a nice time reading together and will continue the reading momentum. We loved viewing the Flip Grid and hearing the students give book reviews on the books that they were reading at home.
We are so proud of our students who entered the Reflections Contest. We had so many talented participants with several winners!
Our Science Fair is coming up this month and we are very excited to see the amazing work completed by our students. On February 4th, the projects will be brought in for viewing and judging. On February 5th from 7:00-8:00 pm, we will have the science fair for all to view the projects. The award ceremony will follow at 8:00 pm.
Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12th, at 7:30 pm. A lot of useful information is shared at these meetings about past events, current events, and future happenings here at Camp Avenue. I hope you can join us.
As always, I look forward to seeing you throughout the month of February.
Sincerely,
Hillary Bromberg, Ed.D.

Did You Know we Have a Direct Absence Line?
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.

A Visit from Project Sunshine
A wonderful organization at Stony Brook Children's Hospital called Project Sunshine, visited Mr. Ufier's 4th grade class. Visitors from the program guided the class in making cards for the children at the hospital. The cards were uplifting with written generic messages and illustrations. What a great way to pay it forward!
