What Are The Requirements?
President
- At least 35 years old,
- A natural-born US Citizen
- At least 14 years of residence in the US.
Vice-President
- At least 35 years old
- A natural-born US Citizen
- At least 14 years of residence in the US
The Vice-President has the same requirements as the President because if something happens to the President and he can't be the President anymore, the Vice-President is first in-line to take the job.
Cabinet Depts.
To become a Cabinet Member, you have to be appointed by the President.
What do they do?

President's Responsibilities
- Awarding astronauts on their journey into space
- Appointing the head of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
- Holding Cabinet meetings
- Making a speech in Congress
- Choosing leading party members to serve in the Cabinet
What are the roles of the President?
The President is an example for the American people and the rest of the world.
Chief Executive
He oversees the many departments, agencies, and commissions that help accomplish the task.
Chief Administrator
He directs government officials and he annually meets with the Vice President, Secretaries of Defense, State and Security. and Joint Chief of Staff.
Chief Diplomat
He decides what American diplomats and ambassadors will say to foreign governments. The President also makes the Foreign Policy of the United States with help from advisors.
Commander in Chief
The President is in charge of the Armed Forces. He can appoint and remove top military commanders. He can decide where troops will be sent and what weapons they will use. Everyone in the military takes orders from the President.
Chief legislator
He suggests new laws and works for their passage. The President can only influence Congress in their lawmaking.
Party Chief
He helps members of his political party get elected or appointed to office. He also helps campaign for members that have supported his policies.
Chief Citizen
The President has to represent the interests of all people.
Vice-President
Otherwise, he just does what the President says
Cabinet Depts.
What do they do?- The Cabinet advises the President on many things that he does. Examples are education policies and terrorist threats.

Roles in the Lawmaking Process
President
1. Sign the bill, and it becomes a law.
2. Veto the bill
Congress can override the veto with a 2/3 majority vote in each house, the bill will become a law.
3. Refuse to sign the bill
If Congress is still in session, it can still become a law
If Congress is not in session= pocket veto

Steps to Becoming Elected
2. Keep your name well-known, to help you get votes later on. You can do this by making speeches, meet with officials, etc.
3. Fundraise and campaign
4. The Primary Elections and Caucuses happen in January
5. If you win the Primaries for your party, you become the Presidential nominee for that party.
6. Debates and campaign more.
7. At the election in November, whichever nominee has the most votes wins.
