Booklynx- A Summer Reading Resource

Tell your students and teachers about the eBooks that they can read and download from your library site, even when school is not open this summer. Make sure that they know their usernames and passwords to log into Destiny. Follett has produced a great two-page poster for eBooks and summer reading. Find it on our web site at or as a downloadable PDF on this newsletter. Check out their guide to Getting Started with eBooks .

We have added 42 eBooks and digital audiobooks to BookLynx for June. Check out the new titles at Find directions for adding your BookLynx selections to your own collection at on the Add/Delete Titles tab.

Due to some of the issues with response times for RICAT, daily Follett Digital Updates have been turned OFF. When you add Follett eBooks that you purchase, you will need

  • to upload the MARC records for the Follett eBooks that you purchase for your school, or
  • choose the option to have the new titles that you purchased appear in Destiny Classic by clicking on the Digital Setup page in the Catalog tab under Search Setup at the bottom of the column in Destiny Classic.

If you add or remove BookLynx eBooks, the same thing applies. If you don’t click on update, the new titles will not appear in Destiny Classic.

Do You Know About Cranston Public Schools Summer Reading Guide?

Cranston Public Schools since 2016 have used LibGuides CMS as the platform to communicate the summer reading options to their school community. From June 1, 2017 to September 1, 2017, the guide was viewed over 36,000 times.

Consider how you could be using LibGuides CMS to further communicate and promote the work you do. We are happy to work with you to create/design a guide for such circumstances.

News Bites!

BILLING - RILINK invoices have been sent to librarians at all member libraries, except for the larger districts, where a copy was sent to the librarian coordinating the billing with RILINK. If you didn’t get a copy and would like one for your library or district, contact Dorothy Frechette. It’s not too late to add a database or Follett subscription for your library. Check out the possibilities at If you need an order form, they are listed under each vendor. See Dorothy's email "Database subscription pricing for the upcoming year" sent to the RILINK list on May 25 or contact a RILINK Staff person for the password.

SUMMER READING - If you haven’t sent in or confirmed your link for summer reading in your school or district, please send it to Dorothy Frechette. There are some great titles already listed – good suggestions for a student or librarian looking for good, interesting, challenging books to read on our web site at .

Joyce Polucha is working on a summer reading list for librarians that will get added to the site when it’s completed.
