Message for March 2022
From Your Vernon Township High School Administrative Team

March 2022

February 22, 2022 was National Bus Driver Appreciation Day! Many Thanks to our Bus and Van Drivers!

Welcome to March!
Thank you for your assistance with last month's Wellness Weekend! It is important for all of us to take some time to rest and relax during these stressful times and we appreciate your support.
One of the most important things to remember this month involves our juniors. All 11th grade students must participate in the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) testing that will be held at VTHS at March 15th and 16th to be eligible to graduate. No 11th grade students will be eligible to graduate or access alternative pathways without taking this assessment. Please take some time to review the informative letter that was distributed to the parents/guardians and students of the Class of 2023 last week, by following the link listed below.
We will begin gathering information for the Class of 2022's graduation in the upcoming weeks! Please be sure to be on the lookout for emails and remind your seniors to be sure to answer all of their emails promptly. Thank you.
Wishing you all the best as we continue working together for the 2021-2022 school year,
Pauline F. Anderson, Danielle Colte, and Nicholas M. Demsak

VTHS Girls Wrestling Success
Coach Ashley Iliff shared information about the Girls Wrestling Program:
I wanted to share how proud I am of the girls wrestling team and the success they have had this year! Only a three year program, Vernon has their first ever female region and state medalist! This is also the first state medalist we have had out of boys or girls since 2007!
Out of the 16 Sussex County girls who were seeded in the north region, 8 of them were Vernon athletes. Seven of those athletes placed in the top 8 of their weight class in a 30 person bracket!
We have had multiple girls place in every tournament of the year!
Our girls also attended the Kingsway Dual tournament which was the first ever dual tournament in the History of NJ. Out of 10 teams our girls placed 4th without a full line up. We placed the highest out of every team in the north with a big win over High Point, another power house school known for wrestling. This event was viewed as a “team states” and shed some light on how we compare to other teams. All of our females are new except for two who started three years ago with our first ever girls team.
I wanted to thank everyone for supporting our female athletes and the growth of this program! Go Viking!
Thank you,
Coach Iliff
