Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
It’s good to have everyone back in the building as we get closer and closer to Spring Break!
Thank you to all respondents of the Annual Parent Perception Survey. I am happy to share that Dolvin had 54.16% parent participation – one of the highest rates in the county, ensuring that our community’s voice will be heard.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the three parent groups that work year-round to make Dolvin so #DolvINcredible!
- PTA – We were spoiled last week with beautiful messages, treats, breakfast, lunch, gifts and more. It was a “bucket filler” for staff and we felt so appreciated.
- Dolvin Foundation – Under the leadership of our Dolvin Foundation, our school playground is set to be repaved, hopefully over Spring Break. This is a HUGE accomplishment!
- School Governance Council – Our SGC recently approved the school budget and is in the midst of recruiting parent candidates for the upcoming open seat (2023-2025 term). If you would like more information about Fulton’s Charter System or would like to access the Candidate Declaration Form, please use this LINK. SGC parent Holly Warner says, "If you want to get to know Dolvin more, be a more engaged parent in the school community and get to know the staff and administration more, then being a part of the SGC would be a great fit. The time commitment is minimal but the sense of involvement and engagement is high. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the committee this year and look forward to another year of involvement." And SGC Chair Logan Toskey shares his thoughts on Council involvement in the video below.
As always, parents, please feel free to share your feedback (both constructive and positive) through Dolvin’s School Satisfaction Survey. Comments are welcomed and appreciated.
Your proud principal,
Karen

School Board Member - Kristin McCabe
Did you know? Starting January 2023, we have a new school board representative.
Kristin McCabe was voted to represent District 5, last fall. She started serving as our district’s board representative in January, but she’s been a very active member of our community for a long time! Kristin even came to our Vocabulary Parade! Would you like to meet her? Ask her questions about our school district, our area schools? She would love to meet you!
Come to her next Community Meeting at Ocee Elementary at 9:30AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. All parents are welcome to attend!
PBIS Rewards Program Update From Amber Fisher and Jenn Shaffer
In the Fall of 2022, Dolvin implemented the PBIS Social/Emotional (SEL) Check-In Program through the PBIS Rewards APP. The SEL check allows students to check in throughout the day as needed on how they are feeling. When students enter their PBIS Rewards page they will see a box that give them the option of clicking on calm, stressed, or angry. When a student marks that they are either stressed or angry an alert is sent directly to Mrs. Fisher (school counselor) and Mrs. Shaffer (Administrative Assistant/RTI Coordinator) through both their phones and email. Students have the opportunity to include a note as well when they complete the SEL check to provide more information. All students feeling stressed or angry are checked in on the same day. It is on rare occasions that they are seen the very next day. This allows for students to get support as needed throughout the day. Many of our students checking in are wanting to be heard and express their feelings. Knowing they are being heard and validated can be enough to turn their day around.
