Moving in Math and Science
Students are in the final stages of our fraction unit. We finished the week studying fractional parts of a clock! Students are learning to tell how much fractional time has passed and how much fractional time is left in an hour.
In science, we are wrapping up our unit on organisms!
Reading for the Stars
We have moved into our unit on slavery. This week has been spent building background knowledge with a focus on cause and effect relationships and second person point of view! We also took time to practice for the PARCC testing that begins next Tuesday!
Writing as Experts
Students continue to develop their opinion pieces. We have spent this week learning to evaluate good writing. We have focused on finding a writer's thesis, facts, elaboration, and ways they connect to their audience.
Looking Ahead...
Final Thoughts
- PARCC testing will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. Please make sure your children are getting a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast. Students will be able to eat a snack right before testing begins. Please make sure one is packed daily! If your child has a scheduled doctor's appointment next week, we ask that you reschedule or make sure it is in the afternoon. If a child misses a testing session, they will be required to make it up at an alternate time. The alternate time will be during class instruction. We hate to have them miss our lessons! We are looking forward to a great week! Thanks for your continued support!!
