Genius Hour is a time provided for students to research a topic of his/her own choice. Last month, students used Genius Hour to research a country in which each was interested. This month more freedom has been given and each student is finding information about his/her own topic. This information will be used to create a presentation to share with classmates.

Jumping ahead, students began studying about People and Places in History. Reading about Ellis Island helped students understand the process many immigrants confronted when coming to the U.S. Use this topic as an opportunity to discuss your family's ancestors and the countries in which they first lived before immigrating to the States. Review for this chapter can be done on Zondle, People and Places in History (Chapter 6).
