The Greendell Gosling Flyer, 6th Ed
September 9, 2020
Dear Greendell Families,
I hope you had a relaxing long weekend and managed to stay cool during the heat wave. It is hard to believe that fall is almost here - it felt very much like summer in Palo Alto this weekend. We have had way too many days with high heat and poor air quality.
We did get some good news this week regarding Coronavirus cases: Santa Clara County was downgraded from purple (widespread) to red (substantial) in the four tiered reopening system. According to the color-coded system, schools in the county would be able to reopen after at least two weeks out of the purple tier. If Santa Clara County remains in the red tier or moves to a lower tier, the reopening of schools could be possible in October. And while we cannot predict what the conditions will be like over the next month, it is looking more hopeful.
Our learners at Greendell are adapting to distance learning with support from their families. And still we look forward to the time when we can be at Greendell together. Learning through play, hands-on experiences, and interactions with teachers and peers is hard to replicate in an online environment. We cannot wait to be back at school!
Thanks so much,
