2019-20 Senior Defense Spring Updates
As of March 16th, 2020, Pasadena Unified School District is proud to announce that our Senior Defense graduation requirement has yet again been a success. Currently, 55% of our students have met the requirement and we are confident the remaining students will also be just as successful. We applaud our staff who hold our students accountable for great expectations. We commend our students for building their stamina to meet these great expectations.
In effect as of March 27, 2020:
SENIOR DEFENSE
All graded Reflection Papers, Research & Creativity Artifacts should be turned in to site coordinators by April 17th.
For the Presentation, the following will be a consideration for this piece of the defense:
Students can record a Google Meet and share their slides with Site Coordinator, to be graded at a later time
Students can present within a live Google Meet with a live panel, to be graded live
Students can Screencastify and share with their site coordinator, to be graded at a later time
The presentation rubric will still be utilized.
All defenses will still be graded by 3-panel members, there will be a variety of site staff used as panelists. At this time we will use community members on an as-needed basis.
Identified Student Groups will be supported through the process by their teachers and all accommodations and/modifications for these groups will be honored. Any students who are challenged with using the appropriate tools will be considered on a case by case basis.
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
Given current events during the 2019-2020 school year, we will suspend the requirement of the completion of 40 community service/work-based learning hours for those seniors (ONLY) who have not submitted all 40 hours by March 16, 2020.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE CONSIDERATIONS
Any students who have special circumstances due to unforeseen COVID-19 related events will be considered on a case by case basis and approved through site administration.
