Message from Casey/Mensaje de Casey
We know that school-family partnerships are essential to student success. Studies over the past 50 years have demonstrated a positive relationship between family engagement and student achievement for students of all backgrounds, including social class, gender, and ethnicity (see Henderson & Mapp, 2002; Weiss et al, 2009).
School-family partnerships are a two-way street. At Alberta Rider, we are working this year to provide more varied opportunities to welcome and successfully partner with families. Current opportunities include volunteering in classrooms, attending PSO meetings, and communicating directly with your students' teachers.
In November all TTSD will be hosting family partnership meetings (previously conferences) to build connections between school and home and to better understand how we can support your student. Keep an eye on upcoming newsletters for more information.

In June, Echazarreta flew on board Blue Origin’s NS-21, becoming the first Mexican-born female astronaut and the youngest American to fly to space. She flew on behalf of Space for Humanity as its first citizen astronaut ambassador.
Echazarreta was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and moved to the U.S. when she was 7 years old. Adjusting to her new home was difficult at first due to the language barrier, but she became fluent in English within two years.
After high school, she attended a community college before transferring to UCLA, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. During her time at UCLA, she earned an internship at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Eventually, she transitioned to a full-time position as a flight engineer and worked on five NASA missions, including Perseverance and Europa Clipper. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Johns Hopkins University and has been featured in the Netflix Film Club YouTube series "Netflix IRL."
Throughout her educational journey, she was very conscious about the lack of women in her field and now hopes to be able to help them be better prepared for their experience as women in STEM.
Safety/Seguridad
We need your help keeping our students and families safe in the parking lot. We’ve noticed especially with drop-off in the morning, cars are driving too fast through the parking lot lanes. When driving through the pickup/drop-off lane or the parking lot, please slow down and keep an eye out for walkers.
