Red Cabbage
Red Cabbage is a safe and easy way to find acids and bases. it is also inexpensive easy to use and safe for children! All you have to do is put it threw the blender with some water and filter out the big pieces and you have your indicator.
Make your OWN pH Indicator from Red Cabbage!
How Does It Work?
The red cabbage contains anthocyanin which are water-soluble pigments that appear to be purple. this allows use to see a color change in the solutions that you have created. When you combine red cabbage juice with acids it should turn red, and turn blue with bases. The color change is effected by the concentration of hydrogen ions.
