Farley Elementary School's Weekly Family Update
THOUGHTS and THANK YOUS
Dear Farley Families,
As we all reflect on the many things for which we are grateful, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of mine with you: I am thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to give it their all--they gift us with a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. I so appreciate our teachers, instructional assistants, nurses, administrative assistants, lunchroom staff, custodians, and counselors who give our students whatever it is they need. And I am grateful for the families who keep their faith in us. You continue to share your most valuable possession with us and advocate to be a partner in your child’s education, safety, and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful. Every day I humbled by all of the dedicated and tireless individuals who I see going above and beyond to make sure great things happen for our students. To all those who give so freely and abundantly of their time, energy and talents, I offer my sincere appreciation and thanks. Whether you help out at school or at home, on the soccer field, in a Girl Scout’s group, etc. your support is heavily felt and valued.
Other more specific thanks this week goes to David D’Addario for helping to make my crazy ideas a reality. Recently, I was inspired by an article I read about a school who created DIY sensory walls in their hallways. That same night, I headed to the dollar store with a list of items to get. Luckily, Mr. D’Addario was as ready as ever to help construct the actual Sensory Wall on one of the downstairs bulletin board. With his art background, he was able to create a wall greater than I ever could have imagined. Students are in awe and have been using it daily! See the pictures below!
Next week, I will be visiting family for Thanksgiving, so there won't be a Family Paw Prints next week. I hope you all get time to spend with those you love!
IT TAKES COURAGE TO #EXPLAIN YOUR BRAIN!

THANK YOU CAREGIVERS FOR STRIKING A POSE!
Thank you to all the caregivers who sported their Courageous Poses during conferences this week. As mentioned, this month, all students will be learning about Brave Poses as part of our Choose Love Curriculum. Mrs. Gasek is making a surprise slide show of all the caregiver pictures that we plan to show to students at lunches after Thanksgiving. This slide show is for students' eyes only and will not be posted on social media. The parents who are pictured below gave me permission to use their photos in the Family Paw Prints.
If you didn't get your photo taken during conferences or couldn't attend conferences and would still like to be part of the surprise Caregiver Brave Pose Slideshow, please email Mrs. Gasek, our technology teacher, a picture. Her email is email@example.com. Below are some Brave Pose options if you need a model.
FARLEY HOME and SCHOOL ASSOCIATION UPDATES
LAST DAY FOR SPIRIT WEAR ORDERS!
WANT TO HELP FARLEY BY SHOPPING FOR THINGS YOU ALREADY NEED AT RETAILERS YOU ALREADY USE AND VISIT?
Farley Home and School is very excited to be running our SchoolStore.com program again. THANK YOU to all of the 150 Farley supporters who have already signed up! For anyone who is new to Farley this is a program similar to Amazon Smiles. It is NOT another fundraiser where families are asked to donate any of their own money. Our school will receive a percentage of sales from all shopping done at over 400 online stores like Target, Kohl’s and Walmart. Whenever caregivers, friends or staff visit SchoolStore.com before linking to the store of their choice, we will receive a percentage back of those sales! Click the QR Code to be directed to the SchoolStore.com website.
It is very important to note that our school does NOT run this as a typical fundraiser where we are recruiting others to shop. This is meant to be a way for our school community to benefit from shopping YOU were ALREADY planning on doing. Our Fun Run is our primary fundraiser for the school year and was extremely successful so no one should feel obligated to participate in school store at all after all the hard work you all put into Fun Run!
Because we use the program differently from other schools, the system automatically sends out MANY email reminders, please know those do not come from Farley or our Home and School Association, they come from the school store system without our knowledge. If you do not wish to receive emails any longer, please note the option at the bottom of the message that says, “If you do not wish to receive emails about this fundraiser, please go here”. When you do, you can instantly opt out.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to Tara Sagor at firstname.lastname@example.org.

OTHER UPDATES AND REMINDERS
IN NEED OF FOOD? HUDSON HAS YOU COVERED!
Greetings from the MetroWest Food Collaborative! Happy November!
The MetroWest Food Collaborative (MWFC) is a regional effort that includes Framingham, Natick, Hudson and Ashland. The MWFC kicked off in October 2021, after a 9-month planning process and is composed of community members, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, farmers and funders throughout the MetroWest region. The MWFC is currently a project of MetroWest Moves, the regional Mass in Motion (MiM) for Framingham, Hudson, Northborough, and Marlborough. MiM is a MA Department of Public Health grant that is designed to reduce chronic disease and increase quality of life by improving people’s access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity. MetroWest Moves is housed in the Town of Hudson Health Department.
Our mission is to actively join with the community to strengthen the local food system by advocating for policies and programs that support equitable access to nourishing, affordable, and culturally appropriate food.
You can find the Hudson Food Calendar here. In addition to the food provider's information, the Find Food menu on the MWFC website offers information about other food resources, where to find SNAP & HIP retailers, local farmer's markets and CSAs. We are hopeful that this website will be useful to those in the MetroWest community, so please continue to provide us with your updates, feedback, and suggestions.
