A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougars,
July brings many cherished memories of family and friends gathering, road trips to our favorite swim spot, and learning how to cook Grandma’s famous cookie recipe. It is my wish for each of you that this coming month brings many happy moments to you and your family.
As we prepare for the coming school year, we have attached information below about school supplies and our school supply drive. Additional Back to School information is coming out in the next few weeks which will be posted on social media and our campus/district websites. Please know this information will also be emailed to you.
As our community grows, so does our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for our staff and students. Throughout July, we will continue to focus on safety and security upgrades at each campus. We are holding a Safety Summit in July with community members, parents, staff, and students where we will discuss safety plans and procedures. Our safety administrator will lead this discussion and will use the input to enhance current processes and develop added safety measures with our campus leaders. More information to follow from this collaboration. Also, we are excited to share our Trustees approved funding to hire another School Resource Officer. The school resource officer will be an additional resource for our campuses and community. We appreciate our Board of Trustees for their continued support and emphasis on safety.
The district must develop new redistricting maps every ten years based on population changes. At our June 15th board meeting, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved a new redistricting map. You can review the plan and more information on our redistricting webpage. It's essential to note redistricting does not impact attendance zones, only the areas our single district school board members represent. The Board took action on additional items listed below in our Board Briefs.
Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful 4th of July with family and friends.
Cougar proud,
Dr. Toni Hicks
Superintendent
