ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Friends and Families,
It is hard to believe, but we have just finished our sixth week of school! We continue to be energized and impressed by all the great learning - social and academic - happening here at CCS. We know that you will soon get a chance to connect with your child’s teacher as part of our Fall conferences, if you have not already done so. Friday, October 20th is set aside for Parent-Teacher conferences, so there will be no school for students on that day. Some teachers have begun to have conferences or are choosing to set up their conferences at different times.
This is always a good time of year to remind families about our protocols for communication regarding any celebrations, concerns or any other information you might want to share. We ask that you first contact your child’s teacher with any concern or question you have regarding your child. As far as communication with administration goes, we thought it would be helpful for families to know whom they should contact, based on administrative roles:
Please contact Stephanie Sumner with communication regarding students in grades K-4. Stephanie can be reached via email at ssumner@cvsdvt.org or by phone at 425-2771.
Please contact Jen Roth for inquiries regarding students in grades 5-8. Jen can be reached via email at jroth@cvsdvt.org or by phone at 425-2771.
Please contact Cassandra Townshend with inquiries specifically related to Individualized Education Plans or 504 plans. Cassandra can be reached via email at ctownshend@cvsdvt.org or by phone at 425-2771.
If you have questions related to a behavior at school or on the bus, please report this directly to our Planning Room Director, Mike DiNicola via email at mdinicola@cvsdvt.org or by phone at 425-2771, or your child’s teacher.
These protocols help us to respond most effectively and efficiently. However, we are always open to hearing from you and welcome your communication!
Kind regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra
THIS WEEK AT CCS
We had an unexpected fire drill on Thursday. CCS students, teachers and staff did an AMAZING job with our evacuation - they were safe, quick and quiet! Our oldest students are doing a wonderful job modeling fire drill expectations and stopping once they are outside to let our youngest students enter first and line up.
Our 5th & 6th grade Spelling team came in third in the CVSD Spelling Bee, after several close rounds.
4th graders create an BE poster full of positive messages!
The CCS 7th & 8th grade spelling team came in second in the CVSD Spelling Bee (losing in a sudden death final round).
CCS 8th graders are collecting data using solar panels and multimeters to determine how the intensity of light varies at different latitudes.
