A Day of the Arts
This would be excellent for the Roberts feeder school(s) to participate and get a chance to meet those students before they enter your programs.
YouTube
We want to make everyone aware of an important change to our technology restriction settings, the implications for this change, and the necessity that all staff follow the guidelines for safe and appropriate use of technology.
Effective January 3, 2019, the web content filter to YouTube was changed in the following way: the restricted mode that has been in place for staff is no longer utilized. With this change, staff use of YouTube will not have limits or restrictions. The previously utilized restricted mode blocked comments and videos categorized as inappropriate by YouTube. Effective immediately, staff access to YouTube will be open to all content. With this change comes personal responsibility and accountability for the use of YouTube videos for the workplace and for instruction.
With all internet use, staff must adhere to the District's Policy IFBG: Technology Acceptable Use and Internet Safety Policy, including adherence to the Children's Internet Protection Act of 2000.
Guidelines for the use of YouTube with instruction:
1. Always preview the video in its entirety. Be sure that you have reviewed it recently as the video could have been edited since you originally previewed it.
2. Embed the video in another platform such as Canvas. You should never view a YouTube video directly via the YouTube website or app.
3. Preview the content and links prior to instruction. Never conduct a search in view of students.
Directions for Embedding YouTube Videos in Canvas are attached or can be viewed in this video.
Click the PDF that is attached at the bottom of this newsletter for more detailed instructions on how to embed a video from YouTube.
