Stop! Thief! (Fair Use for Images)
Let's chat about using images and other items from internet and how that pertains to fair use:
"The Copyright Act gives copyright holders the exclusive right to reproduce works for a limited time period. Fair use is a limitation on this right. Fair use allows people other than the copyright owner to copy part or, in some circumstances, all of a copyrighted work, even where the copyright holder has not given permission or objects." - Fair Use FAQs for Educators
The bottom line is that just because you found it on the web or can make a copy of it, it does not mean it's legal to use. In this week's newsletter, we'll look at a few sources, beyond a filtered Google search, for you and your students to use to find images that are fine to use on websites, in presentations, and for other uses.
