A Message from the Administrative Team
Greenwood Students and Families:
Who is ready for a three day weekend? : )
We have continued to have a wonderful start to the school year and appreciate the team effort that makes this success happen!
A few reminders (some repeated from last week in case you missed it) for parents and students:
1. Thursday of each week is designated as Bluejay pride day. We encourage everyone to wear his or her Greenwood apparel on Thursday. Our booster club has the latest Jay-Wear HERE.
2. Please consider joining our Greenwood Parent Association (GPA) and the Greenwood Booster Club. Your membership is vital to both organizations. You can join the Booster Club online at Greenwood Athletic and Debate Boosters.
3. Secondary parents – please know that we do not allow secondary students to leave the MSU campus at lunch unless we have a signed lunch excusal form from the parents. We do allow them to visit the student union food court on campus and the cafeterias. Please support us in this endeavor, it is a safety issue.
4. At Greenwood, our number one priority is school safety. We are reaching out to Greenwood families to see if there is interest in helping fund a School Safety Specialist for the 2023-24 school year. Some families have already agreed to donate for this position, but we need more. Our primary goal is to have an armed School Resource Officer (SRO) at Greenwood full-time. However, this is an intermediate position – an unarmed School Safety Specialist, that will be assigned to Greenwood each day. This position will allow for improved security overall – especially for our front door access control. Moving forward to next year, we anticipate increasing the safety fee to offset the costs for this position. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $60,000 to establish this position for 2023-24. Let us know if you have questions and thank you for considering this request.
5. Attendance and engagement in class are vital to a student's success. We know that there are times when students must miss class, please help us out by sending us an email about absences at GWDAttendance@gmail.com and responding to emails that are sent out reporting your student’s absence.
Fall sports and activities are in full swing, come out and support your Bluejays!
A big thank you to our teachers for working with our students and providing a safe and productive learning environment!
Have a great weekend!
