Parent-Teacher Conferences
Dear Parents and Guardians,
October is Parent-Teacher Conference Month. Your childās teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule conferences to review your childās progress so far this year. Research shows that students do best when parents/guardians and the school work together as a team, and keeping open lines of communication is a great start! Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with you (if they havenāt already) to go over some of the great things that are happening in our classes. To help you prepare, please see this link for some tips: https://www.colorincolorado.org/article/tips-parents-parent-teacher-conferences. Thank you for your continued support. We canāt do it without you, and we appreciate all that you do.

The PTA Needs Your Help!
As part of the application process for the School of Excellence award, the National PTA requests feedback from families, teachers, and administrators at two points in the school year- the beginning and the end. Once collected, we will use this feedback to improve our family-school partnership and achieve excellence.
Please take 5-10 min to reflect on your experience at the school and complete the online survey by October 3rd. If you would like alternative ways to give feedback or more information, you can find it on our School of Excellence page.
Thank you for your participation!

Letter from Ms. Smith
Hello Parents and Families!
Another great week here at Hembree! I wanted to share some of the fun things that happened this week:
- Pre-K exploring community jobs - They were able to hang out with me for a bit to learn about my job too!
- First grade exploring through a hands-on approach all about fire safety, fire trucks, and rescue workers
- Celebrating students who won Best of the Nest for their class - This an award given out monthly for one student per class who exemplifies what it means to be a HAWK [be Helpful, Accept responsibility, Work together, be Kind, be Safe]
- Kurt Wilson, Mayor of Roswell, visited third grade to share about his job as students work through their unit on government in social studies
- Pre-K students visited the Art Barn on Thursday for our first field trip of the year.
As you can tell, we had a great week. We will continue to have wonderful events, activities, and lessons that are supporting student learning. I wanted to share some big news. As many of you know, we are changing our master schedule starting on Monday. This means that the times that students have reading, math, lunch, specials, and recess may all change a bit. Your child's homeroom teacher will be sharing that updated schedule soon. The reason we are doing this is due to some changes made at the state level on how we serve students that need additional supports. We are always going to do what is best for students. The administration worked with district level staff to make the tough decision to change the master schedule. Due to this change, we will not allow lunch visitors in the building next week while we work out the kinks to the new schedule. We know that change is hard for all, and we are working to support students through this change. If you have questions about this, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
AJ Smith
