HOMECOMING - TODAY!

REMINDER: There is no ASP today

We have made a few adjustments to this afternoon's activities, based on the forecast earlier this week; please see below:


Activities

  • Temporary tattoo station (outside of K classroom)
  • Pumpkin art (inside the ASP space)
  • Ring toss (outside of ASP entrance)
  • Eighth grade bake sale (outside of K-8 entrance)

Athletics (as long as there is no thunder/lightning)

  • 1/2 and 3/4 Soccer Teams: The Northern Vermont University soccer team will be at school to work with students from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
  • 5/6 Soccer Team: This team will play Johnson Rec from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
  • 7/8 Soccer Team: This team will play Good Shepherd from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm [NEW TIME]

Food

  • Nepali Cuisine
  • Pizza on Main
  • Green Mountain Kettle Corn


Please remember that alcohol and smoking/vaping are not permitted on school grounds.

Kitchen Request

The kitchen is seeking donations for Vermont maple syrup! Please send in donations next week with your student(s)!

Health Alert

There is one confirmed case of strep throat in the lower school. Typically, strep throat involves a sore throat that starts quickly, pain with swallowing, and fever. Though less common, strep throat may also present with a headache, nausea or vomiting.

Emergency Broadband Benefit

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is available to any students who qualify for free and reduced price school meals. The benefit provides up to a $50/month discount on internet service, and a one-time discount on a laptop, tablet or desktop computer. Households can provide their Free and Reduced Meals approval letter from School Year 19-20, 20-21, or 21-22 to qualify for this benefit. Please note: households may continue to submit free and reduced meal applications to the business office to become eligible for this benefit throughout this school year.

Cross-Country

Another meet, another great performance by BJAMS kids.

Burlington Invitational, Saturday (9/18/21) morning, middle schoolers running 2.7K over a very hilly course at the Catamount Outdoor Center:

Leila Griffith (7th) was 4th overall out of 71 females, and 1st (again!) for the Stowe team with a time of 14.06.2;

Lucy Stabach (6th) finished in 22:14.6, looking strong. Stowe girls' team finished first.

Luke Slesar (7th) also finished 4th overall out of 87 runners and also (again!)1st for the Stowe team in 13.10.9. Stowe boys' team finished second.

Coming home next week, in backpack mail with your eldest student, will be the information and order forms for our annual - and much loved - Vermont Center Wreath Fundraiser. Keep your eyes peeled, you won't want to miss these fresh and beautiful wreaths!

ASP Corner

PLEASE NOTE: ASP is full on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and we are not accepting new registrations for these two days.


There is no ASP on Friday, September 24, due to Homecoming. Families must make arrangements to ensure their students are supervised during Homecoming.

RJ Run with Rice Memorial High School

Join the Rice Memorial High School community on October 10 for its annual RJ Rice Run. This 5K run/walk weaves around the neighborhood surrounding Rice and raises funds for Rice athletics, all while honoring legendary Rice teacher and coach, RJ Noonan '49. The race starts at Rice at 11am. ALL OUR WELCOME! Pre-registration is $25/adults and $10/students (race day registration is $30/adults). Sign up at www.rmhsvt.org.
