Reading and Writing

This is the second week of a three week unit about polar bears. We will be gathering information about polar bears from non-fiction resources in order to publish a feature article. We will also review non-fiction text features.

In writing, each student will create a book about polar bears and use some of the information they collect for their feature article.

We will be working on place value by practicing composing and decomposing numbers up to 120.

Now that we know a system is a group of parts that work together to do a job, we will apply our knowledge to the natural world by studying plants. On Friday we will learn about the contributions of Martin Luther King, Jr..

Please remember to access the Home Access System (HAC) to view your student's report card from Quarter 2. If you have any issues, please contact McGowen's registrar, Barbara Peebles at 469-302-7502.
