Cobra Strike
From the Desk of the Junior/Senior High School Principal
Second Verse Same as the First
Spirit weeks are always fun. There are always a ton of activities and fun around the building. The one in the winter season always seems to come at the time when we really need it. After winter break, we always have a spinning tires effect getting back into the swing of things. This week seems to help us get through the winter quarter better. Student council has put together a great week to show off the school spirit that starts off with "Adam Sandler Day". I now officially feel old knowing that someone I watched on SNL in high school is now a teen spirit week event. I now know how my teachers felt when we would have hippy day and dressed like it was the 60s.
One thing to note is that, due to limited entries, the talent competition has been canceled.
Even though we won't get to showcase our talent, there are still lots of other opportunities to highlight your school spirit this week. Keep on making a difference.

Housekeeping Reminders
1. Lost and Found: we have seen an increase in student leaving personal effects out in the locker rooms as well as in classrooms. Our custodians work incredibly hard to keep the school clean and picking up after our students becomes added work outside of their normal daily duties. I just wanted to remind everyone on our lost and found policy that we take everything in the lost and found to donations on the last day of every month. If students would pick up after themselves, our lost and found wouldn't be so substantial every month and money would not be wasted the same on lost items.
2. Attendance: we have noticed a lot of student signing out for errands this semester. If parents call in, these are excused absences. However, after a student has accumulated 6 absences, every subsequent absence requires a doctors note to be excused.
3. Attendance and activities: In order for students to participate in activities that day, they are required to be in attendance by 4th hour that day unless accompanied by a doctors note or on a school approved event. This includes participating in events as well as attending them.
Alumni Game
In the end, everyone won the night as we probably had our best student section we have had all season.
The best part of the night came in the form of raising funds for the Honor Flight trip. I love how this community came together to have a great time for a good cause.
If you would like to contribute to the program, every dollar counts,
Additionally, if you are a veteran or know one that would like to take this trip, you can print out the application or you can pick up a copy from the district office.

February 4th is Huge! PTO Dance, Middle School Dance, and a Babysitters Club
Additionally, the seniors have decided to open a "Babysitters Club" during the same time. The seniors, along with High School staff, will be offering an adults night out in the High School Gym. You can bring your k-6 JH student along with their sleeping bag down to the high school and we will entertain them in the HS gym. We will have snacks, drinks, and we will watch a family friendly movie on the big screen. You can drop off your kiddo at the Gym for $15 per student and we ask that they be picked up by 11:00 pm that evening. All of this is so everyone can have a good time.

This time of year is always for worst. Hunting season draws to a close and I have to pack up my gear for another year. My dad and I haven't missed a season to go hunting since I was old enough to start going with the exception of a few deployments here and there we never miss a chance to walk the fields with our dogs. Thank goodness that basketball season and weeks like this one upcoming are here to keep me occupied before turkey season and the spring bite on the lake kick in.
Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.
