Dear Raleigh Hills Families and Community Members,
I hope this finds you well and rested and making the most of these challenging times. I have been amazed by the stories of families playing board games, taking walks, eating family dinners and doing so many of the things that often can't get prioritized when our lives are so hectic. I hope that despite the challenges we are facing, we will be able to look back on this time and remember with fondness some of the memories we made as well as the hardships we had to overcome.
I am excited to share that next week we will start to provide learning opportunities for our students provided by our teachers. I can promise that there will be technical difficulties, glitches and other obstacles that come along with trying out something new. You can also expect teachers and other staff members to reach out to see what supports families need with respect to remote learning. The district will be sharing a plan with families next week. Our staff will be busy preparing beginning on Monday and Tuesday. You should see things start roll out by the end of next week or the beginning of the following week. Please refrain from reaching out to teachers to ask for assignments as they will be busy preparing for this new way of connecting with families.
Some of these learning opportunities will be scheduled, and some will be able to be accessed as it works best for your family. I encourage you to have your students engage as they can so that they can practice their skills and take ownership of their learning during this time away from school. Please look for more information to come to you next week.
We know that not everyone has access to devices for learning. Many of our staff, including Ms. Orchard, Ms. Fairweather and Ms. Thoen, as well as classroom teachers have been reaching out to connect families with devices. If you know that you will need help with this, you can email me at jennifer_demartino@beaverton.k12.or.us. Expect more information to be coming to you in regards to accessing technology.
Enjoy this last bit of Spring Break and we'll be connecting soon.
Warm regards,
Jennifer
