Family Handbook Reminders and More to Keep You Informed
Our Amazing School Library!
At Ocean Avenue School, we have a teacher librarian here four days a week, who guides your student(s) through their reading and writing adventures. Our library collection is always growing to support new literature and interests in both fiction and non-fiction. In addition, we continue to develop a collection of home-language and internationally-minded resources in order to support our diverse community. Students have access to any books in our school system through interlibrary loans, so the possibilities are endless. We encourage you to discuss and ask about the books they are reading at home to keep up-to-date with their reading interests and content. Students can check out and take home the following number of books each week:
- 1 book for kindergarten students
- 2 books for 1st and 2nd grade students
- 3 books for 3rd grade students
- 4 books for 4th grade students; and
- 5 books for 5th grade students
Books should be returned or renewed once a week and should be kept in a clean, safe place. If a library book is lost or damaged, we ask that you please find a replacement or reimburse the library for the cost of the book. We are happy to discuss replacement options for this if need be, so please let us know if you have questions.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS ~ CLYNK BOTTLE DRIVE ~ March 16, 8 AM-12 PM
We will be holding a Bottle Drive here at Ocean Avenue on Saturday, March 16th from 8 AM until 12 PM. We had a GREAT turnout last year and hope to do the same this year. Every dollar that we earn these next 6 weeks, Hannaford will donate an additional $.50 back to the school. Last year we earned over $4,100.00!
As of Thursday, February 28, we are in 2nd place and have raised $357.75. The main office at Ocean Avenue has collected over 130 bags themselves, but we really need your help to keep us on top. We are currently $197.00 out of 1st place! This equals 3,940, five-cent containers! Please ask friends, neighbors, co-workers for their support too! Even one bag per family would make a difference!
Get your CLYNK bags in the Main Office. When filling your bags please be sure not to make them too heavy. The bags this year are not as sturdy as last year. We have plenty of bags, so please take what you like.
Thank you for your support!
