The Soaring Eagle
News From The Nest - September 2020
Beak Speak
September 28th will provide a new journey for our campus as we receive students into an A/B Cohort Learning Environment. I am confident that although we will not have everyone on campus daily, that our students will soon return to school five days a week. Until then, we are committed to providing excellence both virtually and face to face. Please take time to review the newsletter this month for updates regarding events on our campus that impact your child.

Celebrate Creativity, Courage & Collaboration!
"International Dot Day, is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration began by a teacher (Terry Shay) when he introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot on September 15, 2009. The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her abilities by being brave enough to "make her mark". What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe." This butterfly is a reminder daily that we must continue to "Dream BIG" and make our mark!
Eagle Beak Breaks
LaFayette Eagles K-5 grade will wear a cloth face covering during the day while on campus. All students that picked up devices were offered 5 cloth face coverings/masks provided by the State of NC. We have requested more masks to have available for students. Cloth face coverings must also be worn by teachers, staff, and visitors. Face coverings are also required on buses or other school transportation vehicles, inside school buildings, and on school grounds.
Students will have Eagle "Beak" or Mask Breaks throughout the day and during breakfast and lunch. The schedule will be shared by the grade level teacher once the Master Schedule is complete.
A cloth face covering will not be placed on:
- Anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious
- Anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance.
-Anyone who cannot tolerate a cloth face covering due to developmental, medical or behavioral health needs. (Documentation for this accommodation will kept private for each child or adult)
