PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Our Lady Of Kibeho Orphanage
Our Lady Of Kibeho Orphanage Foundation empowers vulnerable orphans in Uganda — many of whom lost their parents as a result of AIDS. Incorporated as a society in Alberta, Canada and registered as a charity with the Canada Revenue Agency, we provide the necessities of life: access to education, medical supplies, shelter, food, water, and clothing.
See the letter below to see how you can get involved in supporting Our Lady of Kibeho Orphanage.
French Immersion Parent Survey 2023-24
Dear GSACRD families,
We seek feedback from families who attended our French Immersion schools or programs and are no longer enrolled. French Immersion has been an integral part of Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools for over 40 years, and we take great pride in the quality of this program.
To continue providing quality French Immersion programming, we would like to understand better the needs and priorities of our parents and students and the reasons that led families to decide to leave the program.
Please follow the link below and take a few minutes to answer several questions. Your feedback will be compiled and considered as we continually work to update and improve our French Immersion program. Please note that surveys are anonymous.
This survey closes on January 1, 2024.
We thank you in advance for your input and look forward to learning from your experience in our GSACRD French Immersion program.
God Bless,
Cathy Giesbrecht

GSACRD Voice
As we enter the holiday season, it allows us many opportunities to practice gratitude, whether it’s giving someone a gift, saying a heartfelt thank you, or writing them a note about how much you appreciate them. Everyone shows gratitude differently, but did you know that practicing it regularly can benefit your health? Check out the infographic below, or follow the link to read more about the ways that practicing gratitude can better our physical and mental health!
Counseling Corner
We'd like to take the time to mention that we offer a range of counselling services at MCHS. Whether it be for academic or personal reasons, students can get help. See the contact information below for details.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Matilda!
Yet another amazing production at MCHS! The musical, led by Mrs. King, successfully blew EVERYONE's socks off last week. After a Wednesday matinee, the crew and cast did three back-to-back evening shows. The first performance was excellent, and despite the high bar they set for themselves that day, they managed somehow to improve and build on each show culminating in an epic performance on Friday night. The reviews were amazing and the positive feedback was ubiquitous. Congrats to all the cast and crew as well as their leaders for this incredible show.
MCHS & GHP Band Concert
MCHS and GHP teamed up to put together a wonderful band concert on Wednesday. Attendees were treated to medleys, duets, an honour band and full ensemble! The feedback for this event was tremendous. Thank you to Mr. Peet and Mr. Kurschat as well as all others who helped make this wonderful night a reality. Most of all, congrats to all the students who participated and represented their school with pride. You should all be very proud of your performance.

Indigenous Student Art Contest 2023
Contest Details:
We are calling on all Indigenous students in Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools. The Division is seeking submissions of Indigenous-themed art from our First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. As Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools continues on its journey toward meaningful reconciliation with our Indigenous brothers and sisters, we want to provide an opportunity for our Indigenous students to use their talents and give us a hand. Artwork will be reviewed and selected by our Division First Nations, Métis and Inuit Leadership Committee, which includes representatives from our First Nations and Métis partners.
The theme is “Celebrating Indigenous Culture: Telling Our Stories Through Art,” and we are seeking both black and white (vivid black (marker, paint, or pencil crayon) and full-colour art submissions in each age/grade category. Another option available this year is a 10” x 10” canvas paint format (either full colour or black and white), which will be provided for interested students. If you wish to paint on a 10” x 10” canvas, please contact the Division Services Centre at 780-459-7711. Let them know you are calling regarding the Indigenous Student Art Contest and requesting a canvas for your artwork. Leave your name and phone number, and we will arrange a time.
Be creative! Feel free to seek inspiration from Indigenous art, dance, and culture. Inspiration might include the Medicine Wheel, 7 Grandfather Teachings, or #EveryChildMatters. The Division may use submitted artwork in creating items to support our reconciliation journey (t-shirts, greeting cards, posters, social media posts, etc.).

FAITH AT MCHS
Beautiful Bits Of The Bible
Psalm 65:1–2, NIV
Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come.
Time - 3rd Sunday of Advent 2023
For generations, the people of Israel waited for a Messiah. The voice crying out in the desert was the sand that slipped through the hourglass. For us, waiting has become an inconvenience. But the promises of Jesus hold firm. He has coming. He is coming. Joy to the world!
Bonus Video!
There's a young man named Josh who attends SACHS. Josh has a message of hope in his heart and he wanted a place to share it. He spent a good bit of time writing this and then I brought him into the studio to record it. Take 2 minutes and listen to Josh share this Christmas message of hope. Please feel free to share this with your classes as well!
