We are now being requested to submit the happenings in your classroom to the district. Please complete this table at least once every two weeks. All I am asking is for one great moment from your classroom from one of your classes. I am going to start adding this in our blog!
Wanna help? Remember you can post on the blog-- everyone has access.
Please assist me, by making sure this item is addressed.

This year we have consolidated some categories and updated the judging rubrics and entry rules. Sponsors and students should review all paperwork carefully to ensure that they are in compliance.

Thank you for participating----Let's make this the best year ever!
Additional information: This is not limited to DDM, CS teachers you can share this with your students as well. If any of you have someone interested, please contact your campus DDM/Journalism teacher/sponsor. If your campus doesn't have one, please contact Meredith McCune for more information.
Upcoming Film Workshop
Teachers MUST attend with their team and will be compensated $25.00 per hour for the day of the workshop. For this workshop, we will be focusing on "using what the students have." The focus will be on using the tools the students have available to them. This can be a phone, a digital camera, or anything they have accessible.
The other change in this year's workshop is we will be giving the students a video "challenge" that will be announced that morning. We will provide teams with what must be in the video (a word or a phrase) and a required prop. The prop will be something common but will need to be in the video. We will inform the teams of these items on the morning of the workshop. Link to sign up

Update on the Congressional App Challenge
I want to give a shout out to the 8 campuses that knocked this challenge out of the park!
Please check out the 14 student-created apps that were created and submitted to the Congressional App Challenge (nationally) by 23 students from the following 8 campuses: Drew, Shotwell, Lewis, Grantham, Hoffman, Jones, Plummer MS and Blanson CTE HS!
With hundreds of students across the country participating-- we would like to congratulate our winners from Aldine ISD.
This is Aldine’s first time participating in the Congressional App Challenge and we are excited we have two winning apps that were submitted. Martineus Fearon from Blanson CTE High School submitted the winning app, entitled, Bug Slayer for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s office. Esmeralda Villanueva, Anahi Salgado, and Ashely Asis from Grantham Academy submitted the winning app entitled, Minecraft Quiz for Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s office.
Officially launched in 2015, this competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM fields. This competition allows students to compete with peers in their own district by creating and exhibiting their software application (also known as an “app”) for web, PC, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi or other platforms of their choice. Students created apps using various programming languages, such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, "block code", etc.
The apps were evaluated by a panel of local judges who work within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields. The winning app from each congressional district which hosted a Challenge will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website (www.house.gov) and displayed in a U.S. Capitol exhibit. For additional details, you can visit www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us.
