Thank you families for a successful October. Our scholars continue to make so much progress as the months go on.
You can expect periodic newsletters from myself, and several of the classroom teachers to keep you up to date as to what is happening here at Anita Uphaus and in the classrooms.
A good way of staying up to date on school information is to visit our website at www.uphaus.austinschools.org . There, you can find several sources of information that will keep you informed of all the happenings at Anita Uphaus. We are excited to partner with you for the 2022-2023 school year. Perez, Parent Support Specialist at (512) 414-5538 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our partnership and collaboration with you will assist us in having a successful school year. Your involvement and partnership is important. There is no one like you!

We ask that you please be patient with the drop off/pick up line. We are moving as fast as we can and want to ensure all children get home and to school safely. Our campus only has one entry and one exit. We ask that you be kind to fellow families by NOT cutting in line, NOT using obscene gestures to others, NOT using a handheld devices (phones in a school zone) while driving, and NOT speeding in the parking lot. Our Anita Uphaus staff is to trying to keep ALL staff, families, and students safe.
During morning drop off, parents and parent guardians will be allowed to:
- walk their child(ren) up to the designated campus entrances at the school.
- If you are walking them to the designated drop off areas, please make sure you cross at the student crosswalk for your safety. Parents must park in a designated parking spot and walk your child across.
- Go through the designated drive-thru entrances at the school
During after school pick up, parents and parent guardians will be allowed to:
- pick up their child(ren) at the designated campus pick-up areas at the school
- Go through the designated drive-thru exits at the school
Please do not:
Do NOT park in a NO Parking/Reserved area!
- block the flow of traffic in and out of school premises.
- block the bus lane in the front circle drive.
- speed in a school zone.
- use cell phone in school zone (Please put your phone down. This is an active school zone).
Due to safety reasons, parents and parent guardians will NOT be allowed to walk children to their classrooms.
REMINDERS: Please be mindful of your speed during pick up & drop off. Speed limit should not exceed 10 mph.
NO CELL PHONE use in an active school zone. Please put your cell phones down.
Early Pick up for Students-Update
If you are picking up your child early from school, please pick them up no later than 2:30 pm for doctor's appointments, etc. We understand that at times there may be emergencies. After this time, our staff is preparing scholars for school wide dismissal and/or bus release. We are unable to pull scholars from their locations and staff from their designated duty posts. We want to ensure that all scholars are dismissed on time and with minimal disruptions. Please keep in mind that you must submit doctor's notes or a note stating the reason for your child's early release. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this matter. If you have any questions or specific needs, please feel free to reach out to administration.

Mask are Encouraged, Not Required
With the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, students, staff and visitors are not required to wear face masks when on school properties, unless they have tested positive for COVID-19. Note: Per CDC guidance, individuals with a positive COVID-19 result will be required to wear a mask for five days after returning from quarantine/isolation.
On February 25, 2022, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that masking be based on COVID-19 Community Levels
Austin ISD required masks throughout most of the last school year and saw a lower positivity rate inside its schools than in the community at large.
Austin ISD will continue to follow CDC guidance and keep track of the COVID-19 community level in Austin Travis County.
THANK YOU! ¡Gracias!

Eagle Scout Project
Eagle Scout Robbie Ruiz is a Life Scout from Troop 395. For his Eagle Project, he chose to replace the wooden garden frames in our campus outdoor learning spaces. Over the weekend, he removed old rotted wood and replaced them with new metal garden bed frames. Assisting him was his mom and ECSE teacher Mrs. Kelly Ruiz, along with some faculty members and community volunteers. Thank you Robbie for your dedication to our school community!
