District seeks more feedback on school start times
Last year, the district received a written request, signed by 200 parents, to investigate the possibility of moving to a later start time for middle and high school students. The request was based on research and a recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The research concludes that later school start times benefit teenagers because of changing sleep patterns.
No decisions have been made on this proposal. The board and administration have agreed that another round of feedback will add value to the decision-making process.
We are asking you to reflect on the schedule, read the Q&A that explains our thinking, and offer your perspective in the survey located on our website: http://www.asd103.org/news/what_s_new/school_start_times__survey_available_now
Please complete the survey by Sunday, Dec. 2. The school board will review this feedback throughout December and January, and likely make a decision in February.

Adverse Weather Routes - Dry Run 12/6 morning
Please review the adverse weather routes that are posted on our website. Your child will need to meet its morning bus at the stop listed on the adverse weather route schedule. Buses will revert to their normal stops in the afternoon.
We are practicing use of our adverse weather routes so that you and your child can become familiar with them in the event we need to use them for a real weather-related emergency.
For more information on the district's emergency/ closure procedures, please visit our website: http://www.asd103.org/for_students_and_families/emergency_information
If you have any questions about the adverse weather routes, please contact our Transportation Department at (360) 503-1151.
