Dynamic Careers in Aquaculture Interdistrict Grant Science Program 2022-2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have some EXCITING NEWS to share with you! Our very popular Dynamic Careers in Aquaculture (DCA) Interdistrict Grant has been funded for this school year. This program enrolls students from several neighboring school districts and focuses on the scientific, ecological, economic, and career aspects of the field of aquaculture. Its hands-on activities will provide exciting opportunities for students to acquire practical knowledge, practice real world applications of science, establish new friendships, and gain the interpersonal and communication skills demanded by the expanding workforce in this field. In having your child enrolled into our program, their is no cost involved. All materials and field trips are provided for the program.
Students will share information about themselves, learn about the various types of aquaculture and the history of aquaculture, and they will also build a hydroponic garden at school.
We will begin the program with our first exchange day, in person, at Camp Sloper. Scheduled dates with activities will be announced soon. There may also be a few after-school dates starting late February/early March (once or twice a month) so that we can have students start their container gardens and maintain them. They would be staying from 2:30 till 4 p.m. at that time. Dates to come
. In order to participate in the DCA program, you need to complete the attached enrollment form. Limited enrollment is on a first come first served basis. We ask that if your son/daughter decides to enroll in the program the he/she take enrollment seriously and make a commitment to the program as the materials provided can be costly.
Please complete the enrollment document below. Registration has been extended please respond by January 31, 2023 so that we may plan for the initial activity. Please email me at rvalle@crec.org with any questions.
Respectfully,
Ms. Valle CompSci Magnet Middle School

“Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is an intentionally diverse social justice organization whose members work to acknowledge, respect, and empathize with people of all different identifiers, such as race, socioeconomic status, gender identity and expression, education, age, ability, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, language, nationality, and religion. In accordance with CREC’s mission of equity, excellence, and success for all through high-quality educational services, our staff and students commit to participate in and support ongoing equity and inclusion programming through curricular and co-curricular offerings, professional learning, and local and national partnerships. Moreover, CREC staff and students strive to understand and confront the symptoms and causes of systematic oppression—ranging from implicit biases to micro aggressions to discriminatory policies, practices and traditions—that benefit privileged groups.
