Here's what's happening in MS this week!

ENGLISH
6th Grade: Now that we have wrapped up with poetry and figurative language, we will spend finals week testing reading and language usage on the NWEA and M-STEP.
7th Grade: Now that we have wrapped up with poetry and figurative language, we will spend finals week testing reading and language usage on the NWEA and M-STEP.
8th Grade: We have one last poem to write and then the students will be typing their poems and creating a poetry book. 8th grade English will be taking a final exam this semester. Students were given a study guide last week. Their exam will be on Friday and will be the last exam period.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We wrapped up our culture unit with a test last Friday. Students who were absent will need to see me about taking this test as soon as possible. I will be awarding prizes this week for students who have been doing IXL Social Studies. This will be the last week of Social Studies with Mrs. Goslee. During Lancer Leap, Mrs. Hinkle will be teaching Social Studies for 6th and 7th grades.

8th Grade: The students have become familiarized with causes of the Civil War and information about the North and the South in the 1860s. This includes the social and political climate, in addition to cultural values. We also analyzed primary source documents, including the Emancipation Proclamation. This week, students will review for their exam prior to completing the assessment. Lancer Leap starts next week!
MATH
6th Grade: We will be taking the M-Step on Wednesday this week! 6th graders won’t have an exam but instead they will take the NWEA math portion on their exam day.
7th Grade: We will be taking the M-Step on Wednesday this week! 7th graders won’t have an exam but instead they will take the NWEA math portion on their exam day.
8th Grade: We will continue talking about special angle measures this week with a quiz on Wednesday to finish the chapter. Instead of an exam, 8th graders will take the NWEA math portion on their exam day.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We will be working with energy involved in pendulums. I will be awarding prizes for students who have been using IXL Science to practice science questions. Students will also be taking the Science NWEA this week. Science 6 will continue during Lancer Leap, but will be the class period right before lunch.
7th Grade: Students will complete 7th grade science with Mr. Faivor this week. During Lancer Leap they will have Mrs. Goslee. This class has been a blast to know and teach. We will finish with a quiz on genetics Wednesday and the NWEA on Friday.
8th Grade: This will be the last week of Science for the 8th graders. Lancer Leap will begin next week. Students have Solar System Projects that are due on Tuesday May 15th for full credit. Any projects turned in after Tuesday’s class will have points taken off. Last day to turn in projects will be Friday during our exam time.
