Buffalo Bellows Weekly News

It's the last week of school!
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK... MRS. LEE
A demanding and unpredictable school year is drawing to a close this week. Before we breathe a huge sigh of relief and launch into summer break, it is fitting to take a moment or two to reflect on where we are and where we came from.
First, I want to recognize each of you for the PLA core values you exhibited each day while on a traditional campus as well as virtually. Together, we entered into a school year that no one knew what to expect. Our campus opened the doors to scholars and we taught them with excitement each day. One thing that we can all be proud of is that PD was at an all-time thing and strategies for learning were implemented by all on campus. At Smith, we also executed several variations of instruction to ensure scholars had enhanced opportunities for success. We can be proud of the fact that we were able to offer continuous social-emotional support to check in on the well-being of scholars.
I was very impressed and thankful at the extra mile several staff members went to ensure the scholars were engaged in school. From live F2F lessons to hybrid and even virtual support. It seemed that our school never ended and our doors were always open. Especially once our scholars caught on to the power of email. Our school would not have been the same without these extra efforts from team members at Smith.
The design of the next school year is uncertain, but with the understanding that teaching is a passion and scholars at Smith deserve hard work, you all will be on the road to an F to an A in no time. Even though I will not be on campus I will still be cheering you on from afar. Smith has grown on me and my heart will forever have Buffalo blood running through it.
I want to encourage everyone to rest and become rejuvenated over the summer break. Due to continuous planning of the campus please check your emails for any important communication. Things are quickly changing and you will be updated as plans are released.
We are #BuffaloStrong and we will continue to be #PLASmithProud

Take some time and reflect on the year. There are some great memories in this folder.
A NOTE FROM THE DESK OF THE AP... MRS. DAVIS
Amazing Buffalo Family,
We did it!! We made it to our final week of school!! This school year has been truly unprecedented and unpredictable. However, we made it! We did it Together. Although we may not have accomplished all that we set out to do, we accomplished many things. As I reflect on the 2020-2021 school year, here are a few accomplishments that come to mind:
- Data-Driven Instructional Meetings
- More Collaborative PLC's
- A Shift from Compliance to Evidence of Practice
- Small-Group Initiative Campus Wide
These are just a few campus-wide accomplishments that come to mind. I encourage you to reflect on this past year and find four things that made you smile. As always, we are #BuffaloStrong and #PLASmithProud.
Let's continue to be Buffalo Strong and PLA Smith Proud!! We got this Buffaloes!!

Greetings Smith Family,
We have finished strong together through all our challenges. As we prepare to close this week, please reflect upon the STAAR data of 2021.
May your summer be safe and restful. Thank you for your dedication and support!
At Smith, we had an impressive year with getting our scholars to a point they are ready to learn. Next year comes the hard part of getting them over the hill of high academic success. Take a moment or two to review the scores for the upcoming year.
