LCES United: Together We Are More!

Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

In the morning, the campus is incredibly congested with foot, bike and vehicle traffic. If you drive your child to school, please park in a parking space or let your child off in the drop-off lane, where they are greeted with a smile by by our friendly student leaders. It is important that families do not block the traffic in the parking lot so that everyone can get on their way quickly and safely.

As a reminder, we provide supervision at 7:55 am. We notice that some children are arriving before 7:30 am. We appreciate that there may be times your child arrives a little early; in those rare cases, please have him/her to wait on the patio in front of the main gate, and to come into the campus as soon as the first bell rings.

At LCES, we take pride in "The Colt Way" - we work to be safe, respectful, responsible and problem solvers. Even with our team's best efforts to foster relationships and to hold children accountable, sometimes children are unkind or mean to each other. Here is a compelling article that gives you language you can use to help your child stand up for him/herself or other children who are being marginalized. Although, this article speaks specifically to situations involving bullying, I think it provides good language and skills to help our children be self advocates deal with any behavior that is not in line with "The Colt Way."

On a final note, congratulations to Ms. Cassidy, who was selected in a competitive process to present at the CA Science Teacher Association conference this fall about "100 Days of STEAM!" We are so fortunate to have such talented teachers like Ms. Cassidy on our team.
