Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview families,
Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are here already. For many grade levels, this is an opportunity for students to lead their conference in sharing their progress and showing off their successes! Students and teachers have worked hard preparing for these conferences, and much can be gained by watching students take responsibility for and describe their own learning, in addition to practicing presentation skills. However, it is still important for all parents to come prepared to talk about how they see their student's growth, communicate any concerns, or ask any clarifying questions. Parent-Teacher Conferences allow for open home-school communication in order to ensure student success for the remainder of the semester.
Tomorrow will also be the classroom Valentine's Day parties. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for your generosity of time, talents and treats to make these celebrations happen! Thank you for remembering that the parties are intended for Riverview Elementary students of attendance only. Parent (or approved high school) volunteers are welcome, however, we do not have babysitting services during parties, so please make other arrangements for non-school-age siblings if you intend to attend.
Make it a great week, and enjoy the long weekend!
Beth Mildren

What will you need?
Parents are encouraged to bring the following information to Kindergarten Round-Up:
Certified copy of child's birth certificate (required by Kansas statute)
Copy of immunization records (from pediatrician)
Proof of residency (copy of current utility bill, real-estate contract, etc.)
Parents will also learn about Before/After School Care offered through a partnership with Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department.
Staff Spotlight
This week's Staff Spotlight is Stacy Torney, Student Nutrition Cashier.
This is my 5th year with the district, I started out as a sub in the lunch room, and then I worked at Mill Valley for 1½ years. That is when I decided I preferred working in the elementary schools. I have been married for 17 years. I have two daughters who are in the school district, and I love helping out in their classrooms. I love working for the school district so I can enjoy spending time with family when my girls are off school at the same time. Summertime is our family’s favorite time of year; we spend most of our time outside playing with our dog Murphy, or we spend time at the pool with our neighbors and friends.
Help Wanted...
Looking for a way to earn some extra cash while your students are in school? The Student Nutrition department is looking for people to work in our kitchens under a substitute capacity. Hours would be approximately 10am – 2pm and days are flexible. If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply online at the link below.
