Student Placement 2019/20
Each year as our enrollment for the school and student count per grade level fluctuates we must make decisions regarding teacher to student ratio and grade level teacher placement.
There will be 3 teachers per grade level. The projected enrollment for YSES for next year is 446. The mathematical formula used to determine the number of teachers assigned to a school is based on this projected number. School level administrators may decide how to use teaching positions but do not have control over how many teachers are assigned to their building. We will not have an assistant principal next year as schools with under 450 students projected enrollment do not have assistant principals.
We are diligently going through the student placement process at this time. Our rising 1st through 5th grade students will have a label on their report card with the name of their teacher for next school year. Over the summer some of our staff members may seek promotions, consider teaching opportunities closer to home and/or simply want to try a new experience to prepare for future opportunities. Please be mindful that changes can, and often do, occur and that could result in a change for your child’s teacher assignment. As always, we closely monitor our enrollment over the summer months and in the event of a change, you will be notified via phone call or letter.
When placing students the school staff considers academics and social emotional needs of students. If you would like to share specific information regarding placement or characteristics of a teacher that you feel your child needs for next year, please submit this to jana.strohmeyer@fcps.org by May 31, 2019. We will try our best to accommodate based on parent information, however, can make no guarantees. Specific teacher requests will not be taken.
