Principal's Message

Hello Webster Families,

Thank you to those that have completed the nomination forms for Webster's School Site Council. The deadline to submit a nomination form is Friday, September 10th. Our election will be held next week.

I would like to thank Ms. Barbara Kolb who has been filling in as our office manager since the beginning of the school year. Ms. Kolb is a pleasure to work with, and we are so thankful for her patience, experience, and professionalism.

We will be welcoming Mrs. Linda Rojas to the Webster Wolfpack as our permanent office manager. Mrs. Rojas will begin on Monday, September 13th.

As we were all informed by Superintendent McDonald, on site COVID19 testing will not take place this week due to a delayed shipment of COVID19 tests.

We were fortunate to have a nurse on campus today to assist with testing registration and to answer questions. He was able to assist many of our Webster families.

Weekly testing is a PUSD School Board mandate for all students and staff who are not vaccinated. That being said, we are working with families on the logistics of signing up to give consent. This takes time as we work with individual families. Weekly testing is important to help mitigate the spread of the virus. Some asymptomatic cases were identified and isolated district wide. I encourage you to continue to give consent for weekly testing so that we can diminish opportunities for contact. The on-site test is simple and pain free. Students self swab. The mouth option is less than three seconds of swabbing the inner cheek. Please contact our health office with any questions.

Unfortunately, our Grandparents and Special Visitors Lunch, scheduled for this Friday, is postponed until we are able to welcome visitors onto campus.

Communication is vital to our Webster community. It is helpful to follow a chain of communication protocol.

  • Parents with a classroom concern or question should reach out to the classroom teacher.
  • A health question may be directed to our health office.
  • All attendance questions and communication should go to our office clerk, Ms. Deabrego Paz.
  • Questions regarding the school day may be directed to our main office.

While I truly love corresponding with and talking with parents, my inbox is overflowing and my response time has increased. By reaching out to others first, your questions will be answered in a more efficient manner.

Lastly, September 24th will be a pupil free day. Our staff will be participating in professional development.

Visitors

I continue to come upon parents in the hall or on the playground. Visitors must wear masks, including those picking up students from the after school programs. Please remember that visitors are by appointment only. Visitors may make an appointment by emailing our office clerk, Ms. DeabregoPaz at deabregopaz.frances@pusd.us or our office manager, Barbara Kolb at kolb.barbara@pusd.us or by calling (626)396-5740.

Tax Deductible Giving through Webster's Annual Fund

Daniel Webster Elementary School has been honored as a California Distinguished School. Great teachers, strong leadership, and parent involvement make Daniel Webster a great school to send our children.

In addition to the great education our students receive, they are also provided with various opportunities to participate in our music and arts activities. We're asking for your support to continue this legacy by donating to the Daniel Webster Annual Fund and help us reach our goal of $50,000.

These funds will be used to financially support our music and arts programs, and to support the instructional goals set forth by the School Site Council
We would like to see every family donate at least $1.00 per week ($50 for the school year) for each child they have enrolled at Daniel Webster.

Think of it as donating less than the cost of a weekly cup of coffee or soft drink to help ensure that your child receives a high quality education.

If you can donate more, we would encourage you to donate towards our Giving Tree. We have various levels of donations:
Bronze - $100
Silver - $200
Gold - $300
VIP - $500 or more

If you are not able to contribute financially please consider donating your time and talents.

To donate:

If you are making matching gifts through an employer, please let them know that they must provide PEF's information to their employer in order for us to confirm their gift.
