Book Pals

Dear Families,

We are excited to relaunch a new program at Smith School this year. Smith School and the Lewis and Clark Literacy Council will partner to bring Book Pals reading program before school. Wednesday mornings, volunteers from the Literacy Council will read to and with our students in the school library. Each reading session will be 30 minutes in length. The session will be 8:00-8:30 a.m. Reading is critical to a child’s academic and life success. We are thrilled to bring our school this opportunity to experience the joy of reading and develop into a lifelong reader!

Currently the Literacy Council has ten Book Pals volunteers signed up...which, divided among six schools, isn't very many. We are reaching out for more volunteers so we can sustain this program. If you are interested please fill out the attached application form and return it to the Lewis & Clark Literacy Council, ATTN: BOOK PALS Email: lcliteracy@gmail.com

Thank you for assisting our students to become better readers!
