Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make it all happen!
Tech Day Summary
On Thursday, March 24th, Keicher Elementary hosted their first Tech Day event. The first in the county. The event was inspired from Mattawan School District who hosted their first Tech Day last year. It was the combined efforts of Keicher's third grade team and staff, the Jackson County ISD Tech Team, Parma Elementary and it's students, as well as many Michigan Center middle school and high school student volunteers. Two local businesses also contributed to the day's success: Dominoes donated pizza and CP Federal Credit Union made a donation that allowed teachers from across the county and state to come be presenters at the Tech Day. Over 100 3rd graders at Keicher rotated through 5 different stations throughout the day all of which focused on science, math, and technology. Some of the activities included coding with Ozobots, Dash and Dots, and Spheros, exploring with Makey Makey circuits and Stop Motion, making their own video game with Pixel Floors, creating videos with Greenscreen or iMovie, and discovering through different Maker Space challenges--the cardboard challenge, the Lego boat challenge, and the Rube Goldberg contraption challenge. All feedback from the day from visitors, Keicher 3rd graders, MC staff, and the presenters was extremely positive. We are hoping to make this a yearly tradition for our 3rd graders at Keicher Elementary. Ideas about next year's Tech Day are already in the works. The excitement of the Tech Day is spreading like wildfire and we're so proud to be a part of it.
