Box Tops for Education!
This year, Silver Springs will once again be participating in the Box Tops for Education™ program. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. Last year we earned over $700! And I know we can greatly exceed that this year with your help!
To help our school, just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them to school in an envelope or baggie. You child can turn them in to their teacher anytime, or drop them in the kiosk just inside the front doors. Ask your friends and neighbors to save them for you too! Some may still be in the habit even though their children are grown!
We do have 2 collection contests throughout the year! Our first contest will be the week of Oct. 16 and there will be a chance to win prizes if you participate! So start clipping now - and help your child's class be the one that turns in the most tops! See the attached collection sheet to get your child involved in the fun!
For a list of participating products please see the attached file and for more information on the Box Tops for Education program, including our school’s progress, visit www.BTFE.com. Be sure to become a member to receive exclusive coupons and learn about extra ways for our school to earn.
I hope you’re excited for everything we can do this year with Box Tops! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Michelle Cummings at email@example.com. Looking forward to another successful Box Tops year!

PTA Reflections Chair Needed
This is a wonderful arts education program offered by the National PTA each year to encourage students to express and explore their artistic talents in the areas of dance, film, literature, music, photography, and visual arts. The original artwork needs to reflect a specific theme. The theme this year is “Within Reach”. Please consider taking on this position or encourage a friend to Co-Chair with you. This is such a great opportunity for so many students to express their creativity.
Please contact Leslie Cardenas at
firstname.lastname@example.org for further information or questions.
Welcome and welcome back to parents new and old. Cub Scout Pack 712 of Silver Springs is kicking off another year of Scouting (our 30th) and would like to invite your family to join us. Our goal is to build character, learn citizenship, and develop personal fitness; all while having a fun and enjoyable time. Throughout the year, we experience exciting adventures including field trips, overnight camping activities, STEM projects, sporting events and more. We also take an active role in supporting our community; both at Silver Springs and the Northville area.
Please bring your family and join us at the school for our open house on Thursday, September 21 at 7pm to learn more about us. For the kids, there will be an instructor from Metro Parks with a wild animal demonstration to teach the kids about many of Michigan’s native animals.
Help The Silver Springs PTA By Shopping at Kroger
· Obtain a Kroger Plus card from your local store
· Sign in, or click on Create An Account if you do not already have an account
· Follow the prompts to search for Silver Springs Elementary School PTA (you can type Silver Springs in the Find Your Organization field)
· Be sure to scan your Kroger Plus card or enter your phone number at check out
· You must re-enroll each April
· This rewards program does not affect your Kroger rewards.
If every family who shops at Kroger would sign up for this, it would be so beneficial to our PTA. It is very easy and brings in extra money to our PTA.
An important reminder to our Silver Springs families…
With ALL the flyers and forms coming home with your child, please make sure to return forms completed and attach any money (preferably a check) with a staple, paper clip, or inside a labeled envelope or baggie. Make sure each event/form has a separate check or correct money attached to it. This would help ensure that the form and/or money get to the proper place. Also, PLEASE make sure your email address is written clearly and correctly, as this is our main way of communicating with you. The PTA greatly appreciates your assistance in this matter.
Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind- "I have a plan"
What this means: Have a mission, a clear sense of where you want to go. Think about the end first- how are you going to get there?
“I plan ahead and set goals.”
“I do things that have meaning and make a difference”
“I am important part of my classroom.”
“I look for ways to be a good citizen.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Write down your goals. It is said that "A goal not written is only a wish.”
2. Lay out your clothes for tomorrow the night before.
3. Write down 3 goals you want to accomplish.
Great Books for Habit #2 - Begin With the End in Mind
- The BFG by Roald Dahl
- When I Grow Up by Sean Covey
- Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin
- Little Bunny on the Move by Peter McCarty
- The School Story by Andrew Clements
- Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto
- Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse
