Week of August 21, 2023
A Note From Mrs. Anderson
Powell Families,
Our Powell Panthers have had another incredible week of learning and building relationships with their classmates and teachers!
We will begin dismissing at our regular time of 3:10 PM starting Monday, August 21.
We hope to see you for Parent Information Night on Tuesday, August 22. 3rd and 4th grade will run from 5:00-5:45 and Kinder-2nd grade will run from 6:00-6:45. We ask that only parents/guardians attend this event so that teachers are able to present all of the information without interruption. Your child's teacher will provide information to help ensure your child has a successful year!
Our dismissal procedures and length of dismissal have improved greatly since last week! However, we need your help! An area of concern is the Cochran's Green area. Many cars are parked in "No Parking" zones. We have also seen cars going the wrong direction down the road and people letting their children out in the middle of traffic rather than drop off in the car rider line. All of this creates an unsafe situation for our children. If your child is a biker/walker to either of our nearby neighborhoods, please help us be good neighbors to our friends in these neighborhoods and exercise caution during arrival and dismissal and follow directives on street signs. Our top priority during arrival and dismissal is the safety of our students!
If you are a car rider parent, please know that everyone is in line for the same purpose. It is frustrating to those parents sitting in line when other cars cut the line. Please be courteous and wait your turn in line.
Tardies will begin on Monday, August 21st. Our school day officially begins at 8:00 AM. Beginning at 8:00 AM, classes watch the school announcements and then have their "Morning Meeting" when they form stronger relationships with their classmates and teacher. It is essential that your child is at school on time each day. Our school doors open at 7:30 AM and close at 8:00 AM. If your child arrives after 8:00, be prepared to walk them into the school building to get them checked in. Students who arrive after 8:00 AM will be scanned in as tardy.
We hope to see all of you on Tuesday evening for Parent Information Night!

How to Contact Powell
Will your child be absent from school or need to make a transportation change?
Please make sure to send an email to ContactPowell@ConroeISD.net. Any other email address (such as the teacher's or Registrar's) may be missed! That individual might be out of school for the day, and it will never be acknowledged.
The ContactPowell email address is monitored throughout the day by staff and is the best way to reach us. Also, we cannot take transportation changes over the phone - they must be done in person or by email with your Photo ID attached to that email for security reasons.
If your child is absent, you can send an additional email to the teacher to see about make up work, but it cannot replace contacting us at the Contact Powell email or by calling our front office line at 936-709-1700.
Powell Elementary Lunch Sign-Up
Due to our growing student population, parents will be asked to sign up in order to attend lunch to eat with their child. Two guests will be allowed to sign up per child. Parents will sign up using the Sign Up Genius below.
Parents and guests will still need to show their valid ID at the front office upon arrival.
Please be aware that no adult can use their child's lunch money account to pay for their own lunch. The federal government requires strict record keeping on the lunches provided to students only for reimbursement procedures. If you would like to buy a lunch from the cafeteria when eating with your child, it must be rung out separately.
